Office of Access, Opportunity, and Collaboration

The faculty and staff in the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Collaboration are here to help you navigate your experience at Roseman University College of Medicine. We are dedicated to providing support to everyone we serve. Working with our RUCOM stakeholders, we are committed to recognizing and nurturing merit, talent, and achievement by supporting equal opportunity in our education, services, administration, research, and creative activity. We will work to remove barriers to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of talented students, faculty, and staff in medical education and the practice of medicine. This will help us develop physicians with cultural understanding who can effectively serve Southern Nevada’s population.

A Rich Mix of Perspectives

We at RUCOM believe that a rich mix of perspectives strengthens our learning community and benefits our medical students, faculty, staff, and patients. We strive to create a culture where everyone feels valued and respected. This means fully appreciating differences in thought, expression, aspirations, and objectives. RUCOM values the many ways in which our medical students, faculty, and staff are different, including, but not limited to, age, life experiences, gender, physical ability, and geographical background.

To achieve our mission OAOC has established the following goals focused on six (6) areas:

#1

RUCOM Climate

We will actively support a wide range of individuals and viewpoints to ensure a welcoming and respectful environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

#2

Conscious Stakeholdership

Build an organizational structure and culture dedicated to fairness and respect in all our work—teaching, research, service, and practice.

#3

Pathways and Workforce Development

Create pathways for faculty, staff, and students to thrive academically, professionally and socially.

#4

Curriculum

Integrate principles of fairness, respect, and a welcoming environment into all aspects of our curriculum and related events.

Taskforce Initiatives

Created in June 2021, The Taskforce was formed to address issues of Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM). The Taskforce comprises faculty, administration, staff, and student representatives. The overriding purpose of the Taskforce is to develop a college-wide (RUCOM) strategic plan that complements the Mission and Value statements. The Taskforce meets quarterly to foster and promote collaborative initiatives and programs throughout RUCOM.

Roseman University ASPIRE students

Pre-med ASPIRE Pathway Programs

ASPIRE tracks students from as early as elementary school to medical school – with one major goal – to increase the number of the physician workforce by exposing and providing learning opportunities for students traditionally underrepresented in medicine and to educate students to provide comprehensive care to the Southern Nevada community.
