Chief, Spanish Pathway Program
Why did you choose to be part of the CVS Health Spanish Pathway Program?
During my first week of pharmacy school, I quickly came to the realization that Spanish-speaking students were an underrepresented minority in the pharmacy field. This inspired me to apply to the SPP at Roseman. The program grants students the opportunity to expand inclusivity of Hispanic culture and traditions to the Roseman campus. As Nevada grows in diversity, it is important that future generations from Spanish-speaking communities are encouraged to pursue careers in healthcare.
Why do you feel it is important to be part of the CVS Health Spanish Pathway Program?
Once admitted into the program students have access to additional mentorship from Pathway faculty and become eligible for scholarships. SPP students are provided opportunities to stay connected with their
community by participating in health screenings, education events, and vaccination clinics to underserved communities. It is important to continue the SPP’s mission of early introduction of diversity in the field of pharmacy, thereby providing role models to future generations.

What is your favorite part of the CVS Health Spanish Pathway Program?
My favorite part of the SPP is spending time with the other Pathway students and faculty mentors in the program. I’ve enjoyed interacting with each of them outside the school and all of the activities we do
together.
Do you feel that you are making a difference as part of the CVS Health Spanish Pathway Program?
More than making a difference, I feel that I contribute a lot to the SPP and I have a feeling of belonging.
What would you share with a pharmacy applicant interested in applying to be a part of the CVS Health Spanish Pathway Program?
The best words I can think of are … If you want to make a change and contribute to the growth of pharmacists to better care for Hispanic/Latino communities, this is the program for you. If you want to be part of a team and receive mentorship from faculty who believe in you and give you the tools to be the best version of you, this is the program for you. It’s a once in a life opportunity. Do not miss your chance.
