From Preceptor to Full-Time Faculty Committed to Student Success
“There’s a genuine commitment across the faculty and staff to support student success, and I’ve found a strong sense of community and shared purpose.”
My association with Roseman University began in 2003 when I started serving as a preceptor for up to ten students each year. I always looked forward to coming to campus for the “Meet the Preceptor” events and enjoyed interacting with faculty and staff. Over time, I developed a deep appreciation for Roseman’s culture and educational philosophy. When the opportunity to join the university full-time arose, it felt like a natural next step in my career.
In February 2019, I officially became a full-time faculty member at Roseman University, and for the past six years, I have been fortunate to be part of an institution that prioritizes student success, collaboration, and professional growth.
I really appreciate the collaborative and student-centered environment at Roseman. There’s a genuine commitment across the faculty and staff to support student success, and I’ve found a strong sense of community and shared purpose. I also value how the University encourages us to pursue our professional interests through teaching, service, and scholarship. Whether it’s committee work, mentorship, or advocacy, there’s room to pursue what you’re passionate about while contributing meaningfully to our mission.
One of my most memorable experiences at Roseman was creating and launching the Virtual Institutional Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) course during the pandemic. It was an incredibly challenging time, but collaborating with American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and other faculty members to develop a high-quality virtual learning experience ensured that students stayed on track to graduate. Seeing the impact of that effort was both impactful and fulfilling.
Beyond my teaching role, I am also responsible for scheduling first- and second-year pharmacy students into their rotations. Additionally, I serve as the Executive Director of the Nevada Pharmacy Alliance, where I advocate for pharmacy practice advancement statewide. I believe strongly in the value of pharmacy professionals working together with other healthcare professionals to take care of patients.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and staying active. Traveling is a big part of our lives—sometimes we fly to a destination, but we also enjoy long road trips. One of our most memorable adventures was a 17-day journey to Chicago and back, stopping in multiple cities along the way. Exploring new places together has given us incredible experiences and lasting memories.
Roseman University has been a big part of my professional and personal journey. The supportive culture, commitment to innovation, and emphasis on student success make it an exceptional place to work.
