Choosing to attend Roseman University was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and it was the strong sense of community and family that drew me in. From the first day, I felt welcomed by both my professors and classmates, all of whom genuinely cared about my well-being and success. Roseman’s environment is unique; it’s a place where faculty and students are more than colleagues—they’re part of a supportive network that continually encourages each other to grow, to challenge ourselves, and to pursue our goals. This culture of encouragement has shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined, both academically and personally.

At Roseman, education goes beyond textbooks and lectures. Roseman’s program doesn’t just provide an education; it fosters resilience, discipline, and a commitment to excellence—qualities that are essential for success in healthcare. I’m profoundly grateful for the friendships, mentorships, and education I’ve gained, which have become the foundation of my professional journey. Inspired by Role Models to Serve My Community

My decision to pursue a career as a healthcare provider is rooted in my passion for serving others. Growing up, I was fortunate to have inspiring role models in my family. My grandpa, Charles Everett, and my sister, Cecily Foulger, are both pharmacists, and their dedication to their profession had a profound impact on me. Watching them work, I saw how pharmacists serve as essential members of healthcare teams, bridging the gap between patients and medical care.

Pharmacists do more than just dispense medications; they provide vital health information, support, and guidance to help patients make informed decisions about their health. Observing my grandpa and sister, I was inspired by the role pharmacists play in improving health outcomes and fostering healthier communities. I realized that I wanted to follow in their footsteps, to empower individuals to take charge of their health, and to create positive change.

My grandpa, who served as the Director of Pharmacy at St. Mark’s Hospital, has been an immense inspiration throughout my educational journey. His commitment to humanitarian efforts, both locally and internationally, has shown me the true impact healthcare providers can have on a global scale. He regularly donated blood, provided medications to those who couldn’t afford them, and participated in humanitarian trips to places like Ouelessebougou, Mali, where he assisted with an eye surgery project, and to Guayaquil, Ecuador, where he taught pharmacy management.

My sister’s career journey has been equally inspiring. She entered the workforce as a pharmacist just before the COVID-19 pandemic and played a crucial role in vaccination efforts in Philadelphia. I watched as she took initiative, administering hundreds of first-dose Moderna shots at the Salvation Army Kroc Center of Philadelphia. The dedication my grandpa and sister have shown to their communities fuels my own desire to make a meaningful impact in pharmacy.

Real-World Experience and Opportunities at Roseman

Being part of Roseman’s program has opened doors to invaluable opportunities, allowing me to gain hands-on experience and deepen my knowledge. Through rotations, I was privileged to participate in Intermountain’s Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, where I used data from my own internal study to help standardize cisplatin prehydration strategies across hospitals. This project sharpened my problem-solving skills and gave me a real-world understanding of collaborative healthcare, a crucial skill for pharmacists.

In addition, I have been actively involved in the Utah Society of Health-System Pharmacists (USHP) communications committee, where I advocate for students and share the impact we’re making in the community. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to pharmacy, equipping me with the skills and confidence to make meaningful contributions to healthcare.

Unforgettable Experiences and Skills That Last a Lifetime

One of my favorite memories from Roseman was participating in our class’s Diabetes Clinic Day. This special day was packed with educational sessions on diabetes medications, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices. Each of us had the opportunity to try different CGMs for a week, which helped us understand the devices’ nuances so we could better educate our future patients. This experience was invaluable, equipping me and my classmates with practical skills to serve diabetic patients effectively and familiarizing us with the resources available to support them.

The skills I gained on that day continue to serve me well as I help patients navigate diabetes management. Thanks to the hands-on experiences at Roseman, I feel prepared to make a positive impact on the lives of those around me.

Looking to the Future with Gratitude and Determination

Roseman University has been more than just a place of learning; it’s been a community of support and growth that has shaped my identity and aspirations. The values I’ve cultivated here—commitment, resilience, and compassion—are guiding me as I embark on my career as a healthcare provider. I am grateful for the education, friendships, and mentorships that Roseman has provided, and I look forward to using my skills and knowledge to serve my community, just as my grandpa and sister have.

In the end, choosing Roseman wasn’t just about finding a school; it was about finding a family. And with that family, I’m ready to make a meaningful difference in healthcare, helping others lead healthier lives and empowering them to take control of their own well-being.
