Sense of teamwork made the program not only memorable but also truly engaging

“Roseman was a wonderful stepping stone for me. It amplified my application for the Neuroscience PhD program at UNLV, and it opened doors to connections I might never have had otherwise.”

Alexandra Van Stone’s journey to Roseman University is a testament to how life’s unexpected moments can lead to extraordinary opportunities. Read her inspiring story below.

Honestly, it felt like Roseman University chose me. One day, I was riding in the car with my mom when we drove past the Roseman University Summerlin campus. My curiosity got the best of me, so I immediately Googled what programs they offered. At that time, I was feeling unfulfilled because I’d missed out on many research opportunities during my undergraduate studies due to COVID-19 restrictions. When I discovered Roseman’s Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program, it was like finding the missing piece. I’m so grateful for those drives past the campus that led me here. mbs student

I’ve always been fascinated by neuroscience, and I dream of becoming a neuroscientist focused on neurodegenerative diseases. Roseman’s MBS program gave me the foundation I needed after my undergraduate experience left some gaps. Now, I have the tools and confidence to pursue specialized research in this field.

My grandmother continues to be my inspiration for my educational triumphs. She was a nurse, and as a child, I loved hearing her stories about compassion and caring for others. Unfortunately, she now suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Watching her battle this illness firsthand has been heartbreaking, but it’s also fueled my determination to understand the mechanisms behind it and explore ways to treat it.

Roseman was a wonderful stepping stone for me. It amplified my application for the Neuroscience PhD program at UNLV, and it opened doors to connections I might never have had otherwise. Through Roseman, I participated in their 10th Annual Research Symposium, where I placed third in overall student-presented research. I also had the honor of being published alongside a world-renowned Alzheimer’s researcher. These experiences were transformative and have set me on the path to achieving my dream.

We weren’t in competition with each other; instead, we supported and uplifted one another as we worked toward our goals. That sense of teamwork made the program not only memorable but also truly engaging.

Post-Graduation Update
Currently, I’m working as a Medicare Assistance Counselor in the Medicare Call Center at Roseman. My role involves helping people navigate the often-confusing world of Medicare by answering questions and providing guidance. I’m also tutoring K-12 students as I prepare for the next step in my journey—starting my Neuroscience PhD program at UNLV this fall (contingent upon acceptance).
