Biography:

Thomas Swoboda, MD joined the Roseman University College of Medicine in September 2024 to serve as the Associate Dean for Clinical Education. His primary responsibilities involve planning, developing, administering, and integrating clinical education across the Roseman College of Medicine’s curriculum. Dr. Swoboda’s clinical medical student teaching focuses on development of physical exam and procedural skills as well as clinical decision making.
As a board-certified emergency physician, Dr. Swoboda has over 20 years of experience as a medical educator and medical education administrator. He was the founding residency program director of two emergency medicine residency programs, at LSU Health in Shreveport, LA from 2005 until 2014 and at The Valley Health System in Las Vegas, NV from August 2018 through October 2023. In addition, from July 2014 until April 2018, Dr. Swoboda was Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Binghamton Clinical Campus of SUNY Upstate Medical University.
Dr. Swoboda became a Certified Physician Executive in 2016. He also obtained a Master of Science degree in Biology/Neuroscience from Brown University in 1993. His recent publications review and evaluate clinical assessment methodologies and the utilization of big data to assess patient experiences in the emergency department.
