Hero Scholar: Julie Nguyen

Julie Nguyen, hailing from Northern California, has long been driven by a passion for service and leadership. She is currently enrolled in Roseman University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the South Jordan campus, with Hero Scholarship support from HCA Healthcare.

Julie’s commitment to her community began in the 8th grade when she and her siblings started volunteering at their local church’s food pantry. For eight years, they dedicated their Friday evenings to prepping and serving meals to those in need. Julie found a sense of responsibility in ensuring no one went without a meal. Her dedication to volunteerism expanded when she transferred to UC Davis and joined the Rotaract Club, where she contributed to impactful projects such as sewing reusable pads for young women in Africa and making baby bibs for children in Brazil. Julie’s community service continues today, as she and her workplace organize care kits during the holidays and provide toys for children in need.

In the clinic where she worked as a medical assistant, Julie made strides in expanding the role of medical assistants. Her leadership resulted in medical assistants being trusted with more responsibilities, such as rooming patients, assisting with wound care, and performing physical exams. Julie advocated for her team, ensuring they were valued and included. She emphasizes open communication, team bonding, and maintaining a supportive work environment.

Julie’s dedication to both her community and her profession make her an inspiring Nursing Hero Scholar, and she is excited to continue leading with compassion and care in her future career.
