Hero Scholar: Noemi Hernandez
Noemi Hernandez of Las Vegas, Nevada, is thrilled to begin her journey at Roseman University's Doctor of Pharmacy program at the Henderson campus. Her Hero Scholarship is supported by Dimopoulos Law.
Growing up in a Hispanic household, Noemi saw firsthand the daily obstacles people face due to language barriers. This inspired her to take action and help those in similar situations. Her passion for service led her to volunteer for over two years with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada during high school and college. Here, she connected with underserved individuals through heartfelt conversations and empathetic interactions, offering compassion and understanding. Her bilingualism in Spanish was invaluable, bridging language gaps and fostering a sense of inclusion. This experience fueled her determination to become a bridge between linguistic and cultural divides. She will further strengthen her determination in the CVS Health Spanish Pathway program offered through the College of Pharmacy.
Throughout college, Noemi took on leadership roles in park cleanups and volunteered at Opportunity Village, creating joyful experiences for individuals with disabilities and enhancing community environments. Her commitment to empathy and building a sense of belonging is a core value she holds dear.
Noemi’s leadership journey began in high school and blossomed in college through roles in four organizations. As President of the Association of Pre-Health Professionals, she guided fellow students in discovering their passion for healthcare, boosted fundraising efforts, and cultivated a collaborative environment. In the Life Sciences Student Association, she mentored freshmen, creating a supportive space for them. Her leadership skills are perfectly aligned with the demands of the pharmacy field, ensuring effective communication and inclusivity.
In a pharmacy setting, Noemi’s exceptional communication and problem-solving skills will undoubtedly ensure optimal patient care and her dedication to inclusivity will create a welcoming environment for all patients.
