On Tuesday, August 27, Roseman’s newest class voted to elect their class presidency. Please join us in congratulating the Class of 2027’s student leadership!

  • President: Spencer John (Class of 2027)
  • Vice President: Matt Anderson (Class of 2027)
  • Secretary: Elizabeth Bakhnov (Class of 2027)
  • Treasurer: Carter Finklea (Class of 2027)

Roseman’s election process is simple and straightforward and doesn’t involve any campaigning. “As part of the election process, we all submitted a candidate video,” explained Elizabeth Bakhnov, secretary in the class presidency. “I had a great time putting it together and thinking of creative ways to give a candidate speech.”

This more open format appealed to class president, Spencer John. “There was no interview, or specific questions you had to answer,” he remarked. “It allowed everyone who ran to show their authentic self.”

When asked what a class presidency at Roseman does, Matt Anderson, the class’s vice president answered, “[Our] main responsibility is to be a liaison between the students of our class and the administration of the school. This includes a monthly meeting with the deans of the school to talk about and work through any questions, concerns, and considerations students have regarding Roseman.” In addition to these responsibilities, the presidency will plan class events and fundraisers, communicate important updates, and manage the class’s budget.

The members of the class presidency also hope to provide a great experience for their fellow students. Matt said, “I am most looking forward to building stronger relationships with each of my peers in our class and doing my best to help everyone have a positive experience while here.”

Spencer aims to do this by connecting with his classmates and providing a listening ear. “My ultimate goal,” he shared, “is to simply be a friend. Over the next few years, no matter what position I hold or do not hold, I want students to know that I will be someone who listens.”

That sentiment was echoed by Carter Finklea, the class’s treasurer. He said, “I’m stoked to know our class more and be a support for everyone in our class.”

Elizabeth is excited to help her fellow students by answering questions and being supportive. “Dental school is a very stressful time,” she acknowledged. “I am excited about being able to help with organizing and managing communication with my classmates so they can focus on studying or anything else they might need!”
