College of Dental Medicine Dean Named One of Southern Nevada’s 40 Under 40

March 6, 2012

Dr. Jaleh Pourhamidi, Dean of the College of Dental Medicine at the Henderson campus, has been named one of Vegas Inc.’s 40 Under 40, an annual celebration of outstanding individuals in Southern Nevada. In its 12th year, the magazine received more than 300 nominations for the honor this year. Recipients were evaluated by a panel of judges who examined their community service, entrepreneurial spirit and impact on their respective industries.

Dr. Pourhamidi was selected for her role in establishing and managing the AEODO/MBA program and the Orthodontic Clinic, providing high-quality care to hundreds of children, teen and adult patients. The panel also considered the academic success of the program’s first two classes of residents who have scored a perfect 100 percent first-time pass rate on the American Board of Orthodontics exam. Finally, the panel also considered Dr. Pourhamidi’s community involvement that includes volunteering her time and expertise to provide critical oral care to underprivileged children through the Southern Nevada Dental Society’s “Give Kids a Smile” program and at the Southern Nevada Craniofacial Clinic, where she provides treatment for children with craniofacial anomalies, such as cleft palette. She also volunteers at a local homeless shelter, providing oral care to adults and children.

She will receive her award at an event Wednesday night at Blue Martini, located inside Town Square in Las Vegas. Dr. Pourhamidi is the second University employee to be chosen as one of Vegas Inc.’s 40 Under 40. Jason Roth, VP of Communications and PR, was honored in 2010.

Congratulations Dr. Pourhamidi!
