Dr. Sarah Franklin Recognized for Community Service
On October 31, 2024, Dr. Sarah Franklin was awarded with Roseman's2024 Alumni Service Award for extraordinary service to her community.
At Roseman University’s 25th Anniversary Awards Brunch held on October 31, 2024, Dr. Sarah Franklin (Class of 2019) was awarded the 2024 Alumni Service Award for outstanding service in her community and field of practice.
“I feel honored and grateful to have been selected!” said Dr. Franklin. “I am so impressed by the service efforts of my lifelong colleagues. There are many names I anticipated seeing as recipients of this award before my own.”
Dr. Sarah Franklin is a distinguished graduate from Roseman University’s Class of 2019. “Throughout her time at Roseman’s College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Franklin exemplified the institution’s Lifelong Colleague philosophy, serving as a remarkable role model for her peers,” explained University Chancellor, Dr. Jeremy Wells. “Since graduating, Dr. Franklin has continued to embody Roseman’s innovative spirit.”
One way Dr. Franklin serves her community is by reimagining the educational experience for dental students. “I am dedicated to improving the general pathology and oral pathology courses our second-year dental students at University of Louisville take. I [base] many of these improvements on Roseman’s Six-Point Mastery Learning Model®.” Dr. Franklin explained, “My goal is to see these students develop excellent diagnostic skills so that they can safely, effectively, and compassionately serve their future patients.”
In addition to educating future dentists, Dr. Franklin also maintains a faculty practice. “The need for clinical oral and maxillofacial pathologists is large in Kentucky.” She explained, “Residents are disproportionately affected by oral cancer, in part because of alcohol and tobacco utilization.”
“Although my sphere of influence is small, I have the opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on the students and patients I work with,” she concluded. “It is my honor to serve them.”
