Dr. Shankargouda Patil Included in Marquis Who’s Who
On December 18, Dr. Shankargouda Patil was profiled in Marquis Who’s Who in Healthcare and Higher Education.
In 2024, professor Dr. Shankargouda Patil was selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who, a collection of biographical volumes that profile the world’s most influential individuals. On December 18, his biography was published.
“Being selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who in Healthcare and Higher Education is an incredible honor,” said Dr. Patil. “It serves as a validation of the hard work, dedication, and contributions I’ve made throughout my career.”
He continued, “This acknowledgment motivates me to continue striving for excellence in my work and contribute further to the fields of education and research.”
When asked about his interest in education, Dr. Patil shared, “I have always been passionate about sharing knowledge and inspiring the next generation of professionals. Education provides a platform to mentor students, shape their careers, and instill a sense of curiosity and dedication.”
Dr. Patil fosters this kind of growth by encouraging an ongoing open dialogue. “I enjoy the dynamic interaction with students and colleagues, the exchange of ideas, and the opportunity to innovate in teaching methods and research,” he explained. “Watching students grow into accomplished professionals is immensely fulfilling.
Dr. Patil is also an active participant in Roseman’s research efforts. “Research has always been a driving force in my career,” he shared. “I am fascinated by the pursuit of knowledge, the challenge of solving complex problems, and the opportunity to contribute to advancements in healthcare and education.”
He is currently involved in several research endeavors including contributing to the Global Burden of Disease network’s risk assessment (intended to guide policy makers), leading a clinical trial on photodynamic therapy, completing a fellowship at the ADEA Leadership Institute, and mentoring students enrolled in the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program.
In his research, Dr. Patil is most interested in projects that solve real-world problems. “I enjoy research that bridges the gap between science and clinical practice, particularly in oral pathology, cancer diagnostics, epidemiology, and dental education.” He added, “The interdisciplinary nature of these areas keeps the work exciting and impactful.”
Dr. Patil is humbled by his selection and grateful for the help and encouragement he has received throughout his career. “The support and opportunities provided by Roseman University College of Dental Medicine especially by my dean, Frank W. Licari, and President, Renee Coffman, as well as my colleagues, students, and other institutions, have been instrumental in my journey,” he acknowledged. “I am deeply committed to paying it forward by creating and fostering opportunities for others.”
