Dr. Michael Green Joins the College of Dental Medicine
In this faculty spotlight, College of Dental Medicine faculty, Dr. Michael Green discusses his career and decision to teach at Roseman University.
Dr. Michael Green joined Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine on July 15, 2024. As an adjunct faculty member, he oversees patient care in the clinics and helps the students practice clinical dentistry. In the past month, he has enjoyed working with the students and getting to know them. He said, “I have been impressed with their high level of skill and the quality of treatment the patients are receiving!”
In this new role, Dr. Green is excited to help students on their journey to become great dentists. “I really look forward to being part of the Roseman faculty and working directly with these bright dental students, helping them to hone their skills, and gain confidence in providing high quality care to their patients,” he explained. “I feel I can give feedback and tips to make their procedures more efficient and effective, and hopefully prepare them to be more ready for clinical practice after graduation!”
When asked about his decision to study dental medicine, he shared, “One of the reasons I chose dentistry as a career was that my favorite classes in high school and college were in biology and human anatomy.”
His undergraduate program at Brigham Young University (BYU) solidified this interest. “BYU has the best pre-dental program in the country including human anatomy [courses] with cadavers,” he said. “They also have local dentists be mentors to the pre-dental students and every dentist I met and shadowed loved their profession and shared that enthusiasm.”
After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Green received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, California. Then, Dr. Green moved north to open a dental office. “Owning my own private practice in Sacramento, California for 38 years allowed me to have my own business, to develop close relationships with my staff and patients, and to use artistic skills to create beautiful smiles for my patients,” he explained. “Our success provided me and my family with a great income and a comfortable life.”
Dr. Green and his wife, Connie, have four sons and 12 grandkids. In their free time, they enjoy wakeboarding, snowboarding, and scuba diving together. They are loving being back in Utah!
