Thank you for taking the time to read the February edition of Roseman University’s spectRUm. It is always rewarding to share information about University, faculty and student successes, and what we are doing to improve the lives of those living in our Nevada and Utah communities.
Earlier this month, the College of Dental Medicine in South Jordan presented its Ninth Annual Give Kids a Smile® event, offering free dental screenings and cleanings to Salt Lake City area youth. As you’ll read in this edition of spectRUm, the event was a tremendous success, serving hundreds of children who hadn’t seen a dentist in more than a year. This event started in 2014 serving just 75 children in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club and has grown significantly over the years. We are grateful for the support of organizations like Marathon Petroleum, which help offer these critical dental services to families in need.
The College of Dental Medicine’s Roseman Dental and Orthodontic clinics Henderson and Summerlin are also educating the southern Nevada community about the importance of dental care as part of February’s National Children’s Dental Health month. I’ve been very impressed with their social media campaign in partnership with Cure 4 the Kids Foundation. I invite you to check it out on Instagram or Facebook at @rosemandentalorthonv and @cure4thekids. Also, our dental faculty will present on the topic at this month’s Neighborhood Health Series on February 16 at the Summerlin campus. I invite you to attend.
The month is also busy for our Colleges of Pharmacy. Last week, our many of our student pharmacists in South Jordan advocated for their future professions at Pharmacy Day at the Capitol. There, the shared information with Utah lawmakers and provided free health screenings. Later this month, student pharmacists from our Henderson campus will travel up to Carson City for Pharmacy Day at the Capitol in Nevada. They will hold a health fair, offering free health screenings to lawmakers and the public. I invite you to follow the Roseman University Instagram at @rosemanuhs to learn more about both events.
I’d like to close with congratulations to our College of Nursing students graduating this month with their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees. These are students from two cohorts – on-campus and hybrid online – from both South Jordan and Henderson. These students will be celebrating the accomplishments at Pinning Ceremonies in the coming weeks and then testing for their board exams to enter the noble profession of nursing where their knowledge, skills and compassion are highly sought. I wish them great success.
As always, thank you for your continued interest and support.
