Marathon Petroleum Honored with Roseman’s 2024 Community Partner Legacy Award
On October 31, 2024, Dean Adam accepted Roseman's 2024 Community Partner Legacy Award on behalf of Marathon Petroleum.
At Roseman University’s 25th Anniversary Awards Brunch held on October 31, 2024, Marathon Petroleum was presented with the 2024 Community Partner Legacy Award for its continued philanthropic support, including time, resources, and mentorship, to positively impact both the Roseman family and local communities in Utah.
Accepting the award on behalf of Marathon Petroleum, the company’s Community Support Representative Dean Adam said, “Marathon is sincerely honored to be recognized by Roseman University for this award. It was certainly not expected and honestly humbling.”
In 2021, Marathon Petroleum made their first donation to Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine, providing a $50,000 grant to support the 2022 Give Kids a Smile® and Back to School Brush UpTM events. Since then, Marathon Petroleum has continued to sponsor these important programs.
“Our partnership with Marathon Petroleum has been invaluable. Marathon Petroleum’s sponsorship of Give Kids a Smile® and Back to School Brush UpTM has allowed thousands of children and their families to gain financial access to the quality oral healthcare delivered by our faculty, students, and staff,” said Dr. Ryan Moffat, Assistant Dean for Oral Healthcare Education and director of public health. “Marathon Petroleum’s consistently generous support of these events over the years has helped to create positive dental experiences for everyone involved and for this we are so very grateful.”
Roseman’s South Jordan campus Chancellor, Dr. Jeremy Wells added, “These programs are a crucial part of Roseman’s mission to improve oral health outcomes. [Marathon Petroleum’s] commitment has been instrumental in helping us reach vulnerable populations and foster lifelong healthy habits. We are deeply grateful for Marathon Petroleum’s partnership and their steadfast belief in the importance of accessible dental care for all.”
Marathon Petroleum is an American energy company founded in 1887. “The company has a long history [of] community investment through financial grants and encouraging employee volunteerism through the company’s employee giving program,” said Adam.
As a Community Support Representative at Marathon Petroleum, Adam is responsible for promoting goodwill and benefiting local stakeholders in their regions. As he explains, one of their most visible and rewarding activities is managing the company’s community investment program, engaging with communities to assess needs and working with partners to address these needs through financial grants and employee volunteerism. Marathon Petroleum invests in the communities it operates in by supporting projects that contribute to workforce development, sustainability, and thriving communities.
While attending the awards ceremony, Adam appreciated the opportunity to learn about Roseman’s history and expansion. “I met the founders,” he added. “[They] seemed to be genuinely good people wanting to give back and share their talents and resources with others. I left the ceremony encouraged by [their] example.”
For Adam, the highlight of his work with Roseman has been the opportunity to connect with professionals who want to help others. He concluded, “I look forward to continuing Marathon’s partnership with Roseman University to benefit the lives of kids in our communities.”
Roseman University would like to thank Marathon Petroleum for their significant contributions to the College of Dental Medicine and for being an invaluable partner.
