Roseman Dental Faculty Elected VP of the Utah Section of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research
Dr. Kamran Awan, an associate professor at Roseman’s College of Dental Medicine, and program director for the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Roseman’s College of Graduate Studies, has been elected as Vice President of the Utah Section of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR). His tenure will begin in March 2023, following the AADOCR and Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR) annual meeting in Portland, Oregon.
An AADOCR member since 2008, Dr. Awan is currently serving in multiple AADOCR leadership roles, including Chair-elect of the AADOCR Constitution Committee, and member of the AADOCR Annual Session Committee. A clinician scientist with training in Oral Medicine, Dr. Awan research focuses on screening of oral cancer and precancer, developing clinical and laboratory tests to assist in early detection of oral cancer, developing tumor and genetic markers for diagnosis and examining risks of oral cancer in different populations and the delivery of interventional programs directed at cessation of tobacco and areca nut usage.
