Greetings, and thank you for taking the time to read this spring edition of Roseman University’s SpectRUm. This quarterly newsletter, with the Summer and Winter editions in print, offers readers an inside look at the many wonderful things happening at Roseman.
In this edition, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new College of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia (DNPNA) program. This first-of-its-kind program in Nevada has recently gained approval from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) and is now accepting applications for its inaugural class starting in July. The DNPNA program aims to address the national demand for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), highly skilled healthcare professionals who play a vital role in administering anesthesia and ensuring patient safety during medical procedures.
The approval of the DNPNA program comes on the heels of recent approval for our Dual Accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)/Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSPS) 3+1 program. This innovative program offers pharmacy students diverse career paths, including roles in research, drug development, and patient care. Additionally, we have launched a Data Science & Health Informatics track within the MSPS program, providing students with essential training in managing and utilizing healthcare information, as well as applying analytics and machine learning to extract insights from large healthcare-related datasets. These programs contribute to workforce development in Nevada and Utah, attracting bioscience companies to the region. In this edition of SpectRUm, you will find links to recent articles published that highlight Roseman’s bioscience efforts and partnerships, showcasing our commitment to advancing healthcare and scientific research.
Furthermore, we are proud to share that last month, we held our 10th Annual Research Symposium, which attracted a record number of research projects from Roseman students, residents, faculty, and those from other institutions in our region. We are delighted to announce the first, second, and third-place winners in the student and resident-led research and research in progress categories.
Also in this edition, we invite you to read about Roseman’s youth outreach efforts. Our dedicated faculty, staff, residents, and students have been actively sharing career information with young people, from elementary school-aged to high school, inspiring them to pursue career paths in the health professions and become our future healthcare providers in Nevada, Utah, and beyond.
Finally, we offer a Give Kids a Smile™ event recap and a dental student perspective following what was a record-breaking event last month. In its 12th year, the event continues to provide much-needed dental care for Salt Lake City youth.
We hope this edition of SpectRUm provides you with valuable insights into the exciting developments and initiatives at Roseman University. Thank you for your continued support and interest in our institution.
Wishing you the best,
