Roseman University’s College of Dental Medicine Welcomes Aide Hurtado
In this staff spotlight, we highlight patient access specialist, Aide Hurtado, her work, and her choice to come to Roseman University.
Aide Hurtado started at Roseman University as a patient access specialist on July 15, 2024.
In her role, she focuses on organizing patient visits. “We make sure that students have patients to work on,” she explained. “I make sure that the patient is satisfied and if they are not then we get to the bottom of it and make sure all future experiences are handled.”
In addition to her work with patients, she verifies insurance, checks account balances, and sends out statements.
One of her favorite things about Roseman is its focus on community outreach. “I love that we get to help people who otherwise do not have the resources to afford dental care,” Aide explained. “I come from a home where dental care was not a priority but rather a luxury. I love that we do Back to School Brush-UpTM and [other] events to help out the communities that need it the most!”
When asked about what she enjoys most about her new role, she said, “The most rewarding part of this job has been seeing all the patients that came in for Back to School Brush-UpTM,” she said. “It was amazing to feel the energy in the building that day.”
The parents’ gratitude was especially moving for her. “For a lot of them,” she continued, “cleans ups for school would not have been possible [without this event].”
When she’s not at work, Aide enjoys reading and spending time with family. “It is very hard to get everyone together,” she said. “So, I treasure it when we can all come together.”
